Our Earlybird of the Month for May is the adorable Archie Craig, who was born 13 weeks early to parents Eva and James.

Eva was transferred from Wollongong Hospital to the Royal Hospital for Women in Sydney after her waters broke 27 weeks into her pregnancy. She remained in hospital for five days before little Archie Craig made his way into the world.

In the first few weeks after his arrival Archie was a trooper, and amazed both his parents and nurses with his fighting spirit.

“He was such a resilient little baby, he continued to make these small but extremely amazing steps forward in his health,” Eva said.

Eva and James joined the SMH Running for Premature Babies team when Archie was only a couple of days old. Their firsthand experience with the challenges associated with having a premmie inspired them to raise money and awareness for all premature babies.

“I feel very honoured to know our little man is benefiting from the hard work of Running for Premature Babies,” Eva said.

“It’s a cause that is now very close to our hearts.”

Little Archie was released from hospital a few weeks ago – just in time to watch his parents compete!
