Fun things to try with your kids for Christmas

Christmas is all about the family but finding fun things to do with the kids can be a little tiresome after countless games of Monopoly, passing the parcel and baking cookies.

But fret not, here’s some fun things to try with your kids during the festive break, that don’t cost an arm and a leg and are easy to set up.

Host a gingerbread house competition

Buy a few kits from ALDI or Target and get your kids to go head-to-head in a gingerbread house competition. You could also get their cousins and friends to join in and get them to all post on social media for the ultimate cake-off.

Arrange a Christmas Crafternoon

Get your kids to all make some cute decorations for the Christmas tree with some cardboard paints and beads. It will keep them entertained for hours on end.

Set up a DIY hot chocolate bar

Kids love hot chocolate. Make a large batch then set out toppings such as mini marshmallows, whipped cream, sprinkles, candy cane, salted caramel and whatever else your kids might like. Get the kids to help set up the stand and take turns in playing shop-keeper.

Design a Christmas wreath

With a simple pool noodle and a couple of Christmas baubles, you can create stunning Christmas wreaths at a fraction of the cost that you can buy in shops. Add dried flowers and glitter for extra sparkle.

Make some Snowman Bowling Pins

Simply take a few old tin cans and paint white, then add felt eyes, nose and mouth. Stack them up on top of each other and hand the kids a ball and away they go! Hours of entertainment.

Make a Candy Cane Hunt

Why are hunts only saved for Easter? Be different this Christmas and create a Candy Cane hunt. Make sure you spend a little time hiding the canes so it’s challenging for the kids to find. And to ensure they don’t eat them all at once, create a prize for whoever finds the most candy canes at the end of the hunt.
